Rigby was settled in 1884 and is the county seat of Jefferson County. It's known as the Birthplace of Television: inventor Philo T. Farnsworth grew up here and sketched his idea for electronic TV as a teenager. Today Rigby has grown steadily, and many residents commute to Idaho Falls, Rexburg or Idaho National Laboratory while enjoying a quieter, small-town pace.
