East Idaho is a wonderful place to raise a family. Here are some favorite places and programs for kids of all ages.

Attractions & museums

Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park has animals from around the world, open seasonally from spring through fall.
Funland at Tautphaus Park offers classic rides and summer fun right next to the zoo.
Museum of Idaho in downtown Idaho Falls brings in traveling exhibits and has hands-on displays on Idaho history and science.
ARTitorium on Broadway is an interactive, hands-on art space for kids in downtown Idaho Falls.
Yellowstone Bear World near Rexburg has a drive-through wildlife park with bear cub feedings and rides.

Swimming & water fun

Idaho Falls Aquatic Center is open year-round with lessons and open swim.
Rexburg Rapids is an outdoor water park in Rexburg, open in summer.
Heise Hot Springs near Ririe has warm pools and a water slide.
Splash pads and parks along the Snake River Greenbelt are great for little ones.

Sports & recreation programs

City parks and recreation departments in Idaho Falls, Ammon, Rexburg and Rigby offer youth sports leagues, camps and classes.
Kelly Canyon Ski Resort (near Ririe) is a family-friendly hill with ski and snowboard lessons.
Local gymnastics, dance, martial arts and swim clubs are found throughout the area.

Libraries

The Idaho Falls Public Library, Bonneville County Library District, Jefferson County libraries and Madison Library District in Rexburg all offer storytimes, summer reading programs and kids’ events.
